A laboratory project turning from a wireframe drawing into a realistic image

Turnkey Laboratory Installation: from an Empty Room to a Working Lab

Starting from your applications, regulatory detection limits and budget, we design, manufacture, install and commission the laboratory

A turnkey laboratory project is a complete process: selecting and designing the most suitable laboratory infrastructure for the intended applications, the detection limits set by regulations and the budget; positioning the benches and instruments; supplying, installing and commissioning the services; and training the users so that the laboratory can begin operation. Every project has its own character and requirements. From planning to execution, we take on project management and the coordination of ventilation and infrastructure work, building the laboratory you need, with the equipment you want, from the ground up.

Project Stages

  1. Step 01

    Project

    Needs and Workflow Analysis

Every stage of project management matters, but the one that brings success is getting the definitions right at the outset. Working closely with you, we re-examine your workflows for effectiveness and efficiency, identify the users’ specific requirements and assess the technical needs.

    Stage 01 / 07

    Project
  2. Step 02

    Design

Plans, Elevations, 3D Drawings and Walkthrough

We design your laboratory with AutoCAD-based laboratory planning software. From the information gathered during planning we prepare plan views, elevations, 3D views and installation drawings. Any changes you request are reflected in the project cost automatically, and once the plan is complete you can even take a virtual walk through your laboratory.

    Stage 02 / 07

    Design
  3. Step 03

    Engineering

    Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC Design

Technical engineering drawings play a major part in a successful installation. To meet quality and safety standards, we prepare the mechanical, electrical and HVAC drawings with qualified professionals. Draft drawings derived from the laboratory layout show the electricians where the sockets go, the mechanical team where the gas, water and drainage points are, and the ventilation team where the fume hoods, safety cabinets and exhaust ducts sit.

    Stage 03 / 07

    Engineering
  4. Step 04

    Manufacturing

    Modular, Demountable Laboratory Furniture

We manufacture high-quality, varied and durable laboratory furniture that is as functional as it is attractive, with every part made for laboratory conditions. Steel components are cleaned with special solvents, then coated with electrostatic epoxy powder paint and cured at 200 °C.

    Stage 04 / 07

    Manufacturing
  5. Step 05

    Installation

    Installation Led by KRCLAB Experts

Our team completes the installation under the guidance of KRCLAB experts, supported by our regional partners. The trained team ensures that everything is installed exactly to the technical drawings, while local partners keep costs down and ensure compliance with local regulations and standards.

    Stage 05 / 07

    Installation
  6. Step 06

    Compliance Check

    Testing, Calibration and Safety Verification

After installation, the laboratory is inspected together with our project staff and the users; the fume hoods are tested and calibrated, and the required safety conditions are verified.

    Stage 06 / 07

    Compliance Check
  7. Step 07

    Handover

    Commissioning and User Training

The most rewarding stage of the project. We confirm that everything in the laboratory has been done as it should be, the users are trained, and your new laboratory is ready for use.

Design First

To give you a clear picture of the plans, we present the design in 3D isometric drawings. You can see the proposed layout, where each instrument will be used and with which furniture, and how the fume hoods will be positioned, before anything is installed. Zones are shown in different colours, so that bench surfaces, for example, are easy to tell apart by material.

For these drawings, built from interchangeable components, we use dedicated, AutoCAD-based laboratory planning software. Earlier sketches and drawings are imported easily, and drawings are shared electronically with architects and planners. Any changes you request are reflected in the project cost automatically, and once the plan is complete you can take a virtual walk through your laboratory.

Changes are easy to make during planning. The software automatically extracts from the drawing a list of every part needed to complete the laboratory, with quantities, which simplifies tender preparation and production orders. Each part is labelled with its room and its position in the room, which speeds up installation.

From the laboratory drawings we also prepare electrical and mechanical draft drawings, so that the electricians can clearly see where the sockets go, the mechanical team where the gas, water and drainage points are, and the ventilation team where the fume hoods, safety cabinets and exhaust ducts sit.

Infrastructure and Services

A laboratory system can only work properly and ergonomically on sound infrastructure. We design and install the electrical, gas, hot and cold water and ventilation services it needs, to the relevant specifications and standards.

Laboratory Systems

  • Ventilation

We design ventilation systems to maintain the right pressure conditions in the laboratory, remove chemicals and harmful organisms quickly and filter incoming fresh air through HEPA filters. The quiet, energy-efficient system keeps a constant temperature and humidity all year and suits the architecture; training, service and spare parts are provided after installation.

    Laboratory Ventilation Systems
  • Power (Electrical)

Benches are fitted with three-phase, earthed and UPS sockets, plus data and telephone outlets, in single, double, quadruple or mixed groups. Fittings are chosen to suit the laboratory’s physical conditions, usually in protection class IP 44 or IP 55 and Ex-proof where needed; the wiring inside the benches follows the same class, together with the switchboards and earthing.

    Laboratory Electrical Installation
  • Water

Sinks and cup sinks are chosen to suit the bench surface and the work: polypropylene, industrial ceramic, epoxy resin or stainless steel. Mixer, cold, demineralised and distilled water fittings are bench-, panel- or fume-hood-mounted, with colour codes to DIN EN 13792; drying racks, water heaters and emergency eye and body showers complete the system.

    Laboratory Plumbing
  • Gas

Flammable gas valves, technical gas valves, pressure-reducing regulators and manifolds are installed bench-, panel- or fume-hood-mounted. For 5.0-purity gases we use copper pipework with brass fittings, and for 5.5 and 6.0 purity, 316L stainless steel pipework and fittings; every valve carries a colour label to EN 13792, and every line is tested before use.

    Laboratory Gas Installation
  • Floor Coverings

We lay acid-resistant, antimicrobial and antistatic PVC and linoleum floor coverings in laboratories, with a surface that resists water, chemicals, scratches and impact and is easy to clean. Coverings are assessed to TS EN 649 and the related test standards: 2 mm total thickness, wear group P (EN 660-2), reaction-to-fire class Bfl-s1, and a choice of 22 colours.
